From September 2014 primary schools in England have been working with a new national curriculum. This has brought about changes to topics and has raised expectations with children being expected to use, apply and understand core skills at a younger age
One of the most significant changes is the removal of levels to describe a child's attainment and judge their progress. Each child's achievement will be judged on whether they are "working below", "on track to achieve" or "exceeding" age-related expectations. Each year group's key skills and objectives are not a simple check list of what a child can do or has had experience of, as we aim for children to demonstrate their depth of learning by being able to use and apply these skills independently in a variety of contexts.
Below we have set out the content of the curriculum and the achievement expectations for each year group.
