At St Swithun Wells, we aim to equip children with a curiosity and deeper understanding of the world around them and the cultures and languages that make it. Appreciation for different languages is embedded in our school ethos: so many of our families have very diverse cultural and linguistic background. As a lot of our pupils are living in two languages, English and their home language, we are aware of the potential of their transferable skills - ability to use skills in one language to learn a new one more easily. We are building on this diversity, openness and skills by offering an inspiring French language curriculum ensuring that all pupils understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources.
