We continue to follow advice from Public Health England and the DfE in relation to the on-going and rapidly changing Coronavirus crisis. As the Government have said we do need to work together, follow advice and make sensible decisions based on the needs of all and not just that which works for our own context.
Please can I ask parents to read and follow the Governments advice especially if they have travelled abroad in the last 14 days and to Italy or Spain in particular.
Currently, we will continue to be open for as long as we can. Myself, Miss Ford and our Chair of Governors are in daily contact reviewing staff and pupil absence and have a clear plan in place to keep the school open. However, there may be times over the next few weeks that due to self-isolation advice, we have insufficient teachers in school to teach the full curriculum. In these circumstances classes will be combined and children may not follow the curriculum. If we do need to close the school due to insufficient staff we will aim to give parents 24 hours notice.
I fully understand that many parents may need to self isolate and this may include their children. Please let us know if that is the case - children will be marked as an authorised absence.
If children are off school but well enough, the expectation is that work will be completed. From Wednesday of this week teachers will be adding work to the class pages of the website. However, in the meantime, all children have a log on to MyMaths and should have reading books at home. Children in Years 2-4 also have access to TimesTables, Rock Stars and in years 2 and 6 have access to SPAG. We will be extending TimesTables Rock Stars to years 5 and 6. All of these apps can be practiced through mobile devices.
Children should also carry out research on their class geography or history topics and present their learning as they choose.
Please note that we may need to stop the minibus and TAZ if we do not have sufficient staff in school.
All updates will be posted on the Latest News section of the school website and we will also aim to circulate information via the PTFA. - these messages will be signed by myself so parents know they are accurate and sent from the school.
I am aware that this is a very difficult time for everyone and school closures add to parents difficulties. We will do our best to avoid this but I can’t guarantee this.
With best wishes
